Cimbalom Lessons with Giani Lincan

About the Cimbalom

For those who are not yet familiar with this instrument, the cimbalom is a stringed musical instrument, similar to the piano in structure and playing principle. There are several types of cimbalom, suited to different skill levels and musical styles.

The small cimbalom has a range of approximately three octaves (from -1C to +2C), covering the middle register and part of the high register. Due to its balanced sound, it is ideal for beginners. This instrument has a long tradition in Romanian folk music, being used since the 19th century in aristocratic courts and still present today in small ensembles and orchestras.

Concert Cimbalom The concert cimbalom is a complex instrument that includes three registers: low, middle, and high, with a range of approximately 5.5 octaves. It is suitable for a wide variety of musical styles and allows for both solo and accompaniment performances. The cimbalom is a versatile instrument, combining melodic and percussive qualities.
